
"Si no se
reanuda la competición, el daño económico al fútbol italiano será
irreversible", afirmó Gabriele Gravina, presidente de la Federación de
Fútbol italiana (FIGC).

que el fútbol italiano ya ha perdido unos 500 millones de euros a causa de la
pandemia del coronavirus y que es fundamental terminar la temporada 2019-2020.
"Si no se
reanuda la Serie A ya, el daño económico será irreversible para el fútbol
italiano. Ya hemos perdido 500 millones de euros. Hay que defender a 100.000
trabajadores, 1,4 millones de afiliados a la FIGC y unos ingresos de 4.700
millones. Volver a empezar significa jugar", explicó Gravina en una
intervención en la revista "Riparte l'Italia".
La Serie A fue
interrumpida el pasado 9 de marzo en la vigésima sexta jornada, cuando el
Juventus Turín era líder con un punto de ventaja sobre el Lazio, segundo, y
nueve sobre el Inter de Milán, tercero.
Se estima que, de
ser abandonada definitivamente la temporada, el fútbol italiano sufriría un
perjuicio económico que puede alcanzar los mil millones de euros, entre dinero
de patrocinadores, derechos televisivos y taquillas.
Gravina tiene
clara la importancia de que se vuelva a competir y participará este jueves en
una reunión decisiva con el ministro de Deportes, Vincenzo Spadafora, y la Liga
de la Serie A en la que se establecerá "si y cuándo" se reanuda el
campeonato.
Al haberse
registrado un importante descenso en los contagios por coronavirus en Italia,
la FIGC confía en que el Gobierno dé el visto bueno para que la Serie A se
reanude el 14 de junio.
"El fútbol
en Italia es el deporte más representativo. Cuenta con 4,6 millones de
deportistas profesionales y aficionados, 1,4 millones de afiliados a la FIGC,
833.000 de ellos en el fútbol juvenil. Casi el 20 % de la población masculina
italiana entre los 5 y los 16 años está afiliada a la FIGC", destacó
Gravina.
"Cada año en
Italia se disputan 570.000 partidos oficiales, o sea 1.600 por día",
concluyó, insistiendo en la importancia del fútbol para el país.
