El Corinthians rechaza la vuelta del fútbol en Brasil hasta controlar el COVID-19

"El fútbol no puede anticiparse al control de la pandemia", afirmó el presidente del Corinthians, Andrés Sánchez

 

El Corinthians rechazó este martes el regreso de las competiciones futbolísticas en Brasil, uno de los países del mundo más afectados por la pandemia de coronavirus, hasta que sea controlada la crisis sanitaria en el país.

 

"El fútbol no puede anticiparse al control de la pandemia", afirmó el presidente del Corinthians, Andrés Sánchez, en una carta abierta en la que apeló a la responsabilidad para retomar las actividades deportivas.

 

El club paulista, uno de los más populares de Brasil junto con el Flamengo, dijo que "todo debate es menor" en momentos en que el país se acerca a las 24.000 muertes por COVID-19 y roza los 375.000 contagios, lo que le sitúan como la segunda nación con mayor número de infectados, solo por detrás de Estados Unidos.

 

Sánchez indicó que es legítimo que el fútbol "busque salidas junto al Gobierno federal" y los respectivos gobiernos regionales y municipales a fin de "impedir un agravamiento de la crisis" del sector, parado desde mediados de marzo.

 

No obstante, remarcó que Brasil vive una situación "muy diferente" de la de aquellos países donde se han reiniciado las competiciones, como es el caso de la Bundesliga.

 

En Alemania "hubo responsabilidad con su producto, sus astros y su público. El fútbol brasileño, sin embargo, camina en otra dirección", criticó el máximo dirigente del Corinthians.

 

La Confederación Brasileña de Fútbol (CBF) ya ha empezado a elaborar protocolos para la vuelta de las competiciones, a pesar de que el pico de la llamada "curva" aún está lejos y solo se espera entre los meses de junio y julio.

 

La grave emergencia sanitaria no ha impedido que algunos equipos ya hayan vuelto a los entrenamientos, como Gremio, Internacional, Atlético Mineiro y Flamengo, este último incluso sin el aval de la Alcaldía de Río de Janeiro y con positivos por COVID-19 entre los miembros de la plantilla.

 

Algunas federaciones regionales presionan para que el próximo mes vuelvan los torneos locales que fueron suspendidos en marzo y así poder empezar el Campeonato Brasileño, que estaba previsto para iniciar a principios de mayo.

 

Por otro lado, el presidente de Brasil, el ultraderechista Jair Bolsonaro, uno de los pocos líderes mundiales negacionistas sobre el peligro del coronavirus, defiende el retorno del fútbol y la semana pasada aseguró que el Ministerio de Salud se ha mostrado favorable a ello, aunque sin espectadores en las gradas.

 

Pero para el Corinthians, los diferentes contextos en el combate a la enfermedad de los 27 estados brasileños requieren "un trabajo más coordinado" entre las autoridades y las federaciones porque "en un deporte colectivo no se puede jugar solo".

 

"Cualquier retorno solo pospondrá la próxima pausa forzada, en la que los clubes volverán a agonizar. Como negocio sostenible, el fútbol solo puede regresar después de una articulación eficiente, centrada tanto en el bienestar de las personas como en la seguridad de la salud en los estados involucrados", sentenció Sánchez.
