La Premier League
sigue buscando fórmulas para convencer a sus jugadores del retorno a la
competición y hoy, según ha desvelado el diario The Times, parece que ha dado
un paso más en esa dirección. Los futbolistas, que no contemplaban la
posibilidad de confinarse en un hotel durante una, e incluso dos semanas, antes
del regreso, han obtenido esa concesión por parte de una liga que se sabe en
manos de sus profesionales. Si ellos deciden no volver a jugar por el miedo al
coronavirus, el futuro económico del fútbol en Inglaterra se va a ver muy comprometido.
El confinamiento
de una semana en un hotel ya se ha utilizado, por ejemplo, en Alemania, donde
la Bundesliga ya está en marcha y donde se ha visto como una medida lógica para
reducir el riesgo de contagio. Mark Gillett, el asesor médico de la Premier,
dijo la semana pasada que algo parecido debía, al menos, discutirse, pero
parece que la opción ha sido descartada de cara al retorno previsto para el 19
o, más seguramente, el próximo 26 de junio.
El hecho de que
apenas haya habido ocho positivos entre los 1.744 test que se han realizado en
