inglesa anuncia en un comunicado dos nuevos casos y el Bournemouth hace público
que uno es un jugador suyo.
La Premier League
anunció este domingo a través de un comunicado oficial dos nuevos positivos por
COVID-19 en los 996 test que ha realizado desde el martes hasta el viernes
pasado. Los afectados pertenecen a “dos clubs” y el Bournemouth confirmó que
uno de los casos es suyo. Se trata de un jugador cuya identidad no se ha hecho
pública. Con estos dos nuevos positivos se eleva a ocho el número de infectados
por coronavirus en la liga inglesa.
“El
Bournemouth puede confirmar que uno de sus jugadores ha dado positivo por
COVID-19 en la segunda ronda de pruebas del club. La confidencialidad médica
significa que el nombre del jugador no será revelado, y el club pide que se
respete. De acuerdo con los protocolos de la Premier para las pruebas
positivas, tendrá que permanecer en confinamiento solitario durante un período
de siete días antes de ser evaluado nuevamente en una fecha posterior”, aseguró
el Bournemouth en su nota oficial.
La Premier
anunció que el martes 19 de mayo, el jueves 21 de mayo y el viernes 22 de mayo,
996 jugadores y el personal de club pasaron los tests de COVID-19. De estos,
dos han dado positivo en dos clubs”, indicó el organismo.
La competición
británica explicó que los jugadores o el personal de club que hayan dado
positivo, de los cuales no ha revelado su identidad, ahora se “autoaislarán por
un período de siete días” para poder retomar la actividad.
“Para
la segunda ronda de test, el número de pruebas disponibles para cada club
aumentó de 40 a 50. Anteriormente, 748 jugadores y el personal del club fueron
evaluados para el COVID-19 del 17 al 18 de mayo, con seis resultados positivos
de tres clubs”, recordó la Premier.
“Los
seis que dieron positivo en la primera tanda de pruebas no están incluidos en
las cifras del 19 al 22 de mayo, ya que todavía se encuentra dentro de su
período de autoaislamiento de siete días”, sentenció el comunicado.
Entre esa media
docena de infectados están el defensa de Watford Adrian Mariappa y un asistente
del Burnley, Ian Woan, que dieron positivo en la primera ronda de pruebas del
17 al 18 de mayo.
El pasado
viernes, el presidente ejecutivo, Richard Masters, explicó que la Premier
mantiene su “confianza” en retomar la competición durante el mes de junio y
recordó que, por encima de todo, la seguridad es “lo más importante” tanto en
los entrenamientos como en la competición para evitar contagios de COVID-19
entre los jugadores.
