
El organismo
que preside Gianni Infantino espera la implicación de la comunidad futbolística
mundial.
La FIFA anunció
este lunes que su Fundación organizará un partido benéfico para recaudar fondos
que se destinarán a hacer frente a la COVID-19, en el que espera la implicación
de la comunidad futbolística mundial, así como de gobiernos, organizaciones no
gubernamentales y el sector privado.
La idea de la
FIFA es que la recaudación permita el "Acceso a las herramientas de la
COVID-19” (Access to COVID-19 Tools -ACT-), con "una alianza mundial que
pretende acelerar el desarrollo, la producción y el acceso equitativo a las
nuevas tecnologías sanitarias esenciales para combatir el coronavirus,
incluidos los diagnósticos, la terapéutica y las vacunas".
El presidente de
la FIFA, Gianni Infantino, señaló en un comunicado que la organización tiene
"la responsabilidad de mostrar solidaridad y seguir haciendo todo lo
posible por participar en las actividades de lucha contra la pandemia y
apoyarlas".
"Hemos
participado activamente en la sensibilización a través de varias otras
campañas, y la FIFA también ha contribuido económicamente a esta causa, pero
ahora nos comprometemos a organizar este evento mundial de recaudación de
fondos cuando la situación sanitaria lo permita, incluso aunque pueda tardar
unos meses", dijo.
Tras anunciar una
donación de 10 millones de euros al principio de la crisis sanitaria, ahora la
Fundación FIFA "pretende aprovechar la oportunidad de organizar el partido
para ampliar el alcance del fútbol más allá de la red deportiva tradicional,
llegar a la sociedad en general y contribuir así a apoyar los esfuerzos para
combatir el coronavirus".
Según el
presidente ejecutivo de la misma, Mauricio Macri, "la Fundación
involucrará no solo a la comunidad futbolística mundial, sino también a otras
partes interesadas, desde organizaciones no gubernamentales hasta otras
fundaciones, pasando por el sector privado y los gobiernos, a fin de garantizar
que esta iniciativa sea una ayuda significativa para quienes están a la
vanguardia de la investigación en la lucha contra la COVID-19”.
"Nuestro
objetivo es desarrollar y apoyar a una sociedad que pueda ofrecer un equilibro
en cuanto a la prevención de este tipo de enfermedades y la vida futura, y al
mismo tiempo, crear un entorno en el que la sostenibilidad pueda prosperar
verdaderamente", apuntó.
Por su parte el
director general de la Fundación, Youri Djorkaeff, comentó que el lugar donde
se jugará, los participantes y el formato se anunciarán más adelante, ya que
"actualmente se están considerando varios escenarios y planes, todos en
consonancia con la salud y otras directrices relevantes de los respectivos
gobiernos y organismos internacionales".
