Florian Wirtz is reportedly set for a medical at Liverpool "next week", as details surrounding a "total agreement" emerge. The German international has been chased by Liverpool throughout the summer, with the Premier League outfit having already had two bids rejected.
Bayer Leverkusen are believed to be holding out for a total fee of £126million for the 22-year-old - a deal that would see him become the most expensive Premier League player of all time. After seeing two separate approaches knocked back, it's now suggested Liverpool are edging closer to securing the coveted playmaker's signature, with the chance a deal could be completed as early as next week.
According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, progress is being made between the two clubs, with a medical expected to take place next week. Speaking in Germany ahead of the Nations League final, he told Sky Sports News: "I expect the medical to take place in the coming days, as we expect a total agreement between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen within the next one, two or three days.
"As there has been a new offer from Liverpool in the last couple of days and the total package is now almost €150m (£126m) with a big package of possible add-ons included. We didn't get the confirmation two days ago for the full agreement, as some more figures have to be clarified. But Florian Wirtz is totally convinced that the deal will happen in the next couple of days."

Liverpool's latest offer was reportedly an initial £100m fee, with around £13m in achievable add-ons included in the proposal. However, Leverkusen, who are now managed by ex-Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, were quick to say no to the Merseyside outfit.
All parties remain confident that Wirtz, who was also subject to transfer interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich, will end up at the Anfield outfit this summer. However, Liverpool were said to be hesitant to match Leverkusen's £126m asking price and would prefer to come to a compromise instead.
It's suggested that this could come in the form of a lower initial payment, higher potential add-ons or potentially even sending players in the opposite direction. Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah are two players who have been touted as potential makeweights in a deal for Wirtz.
The transfer window remains open until 10 June ahead of the Club World Cup, but will shut for six days until it reopens on 16 June. Following that, clubs will be able to complete business until 1 September.
