Bromley boss Andy Woodman hailed his players’ never-say-die attitude after their thrilling 3-3 draw at Barrow.
The visitors came from behind three times as Michael Cheek, Nicke Kabamba – his first for the club – and Omar Sowunmi’s stoppage-time leveller cancelled out Ben Whitfield’s penalty and efforts from Isaac Fletcher and Elliot Newby.
“It was an end-of-season game. I thought it was an entertaining match,” reflected Woodman.
“We just wanted to give a good account of ourselves and we did that going forward. I’m glad we didn’t get beat because our support have come a long way.
“The lads had a real good go. The guys have been banging on the door trying to get involved.
“Nicke’s come on and I’m delighted he scored. He was brilliant.
“We’ve paid money for him, he’s been patient. He’s a real team player, a squad player. He’s got a real energy around the place and we’re really pleased he’s scored.
“I certainly want Nicke to realise he’s really important for us as a group.
“I’m proud of my players. I probably don’t say that enough. But I’m proud of them as a group and professionals.
“I don’t want to be too critical. It was a wide-open game. We made some errors.
“They’re great young men. We didn’t win but we didn’t lose.”
The Bluebirds were forced to settle for their third straight draw after two dour stalemates over Easter.
“The goals we conceded were poor,” admitted boss Andy Whing. “I’m disappointed and gutted with those.
“But the lads kept going. It’s easy in these types of games to just sit behind the ball.
“We had a right go. I think we should have won the game. I thought we were a lot better than the last two games.
“I’ve just gutted we didn’t win in front of our fans in the last game here this season.
“There was a lot more entertainment for them out there than the last couple of games.
“The second goal was a mix-up at the back with some miscommunication and the third was a counter-attack.
“I thought we deserved to win the game quite comfortably.
“We’ve been brilliant defensively lately and it was one of those days where they scored with every mistake we made.
“But we were a threat all game and that’s what I want to be moving forward.”
