Who knows? Danny Webb thinks Chesterfield can still make play-offs
{by} PA

Chesterfield assistant manager Danny Webb still has his eyes on the Sky Bet League Two play-offs after second-half goals from Ryan Colclough, Ash Palmer and Paddy Madden secured a 3-0 victory over Fleetwood.

Matty Virtue had a tame effort for Town comfortably claimed by home goalkeeper Ryan Boot, who also came to Chesterfield’s rescue with a fine save to deny Mark Helm.

Webb said: “It had a bit of an end-of-season feel in the first half but in the second half it changed.

“Four points off the play-offs – who knows? It’s still going to be a tough ask but second halves like that is certainly going to help our cause.

“It felt a bit flat at half-time but as soon as Ryan scored there was a bit of excitement running through people’s veins. Really pleased for Ryan.

“We’ve had a lot of players contribute and results like today make our return to the EFL so far pretty good.

“All you can do is enjoy your weekend and then look forward to a tough game at AFC Wimbledon.

“There are some twists and turns. It is game on and we have to look to perform at Wimbledon.

“It is very rare that we haven’t turned up. Tranmere was one of the few games where we haven’t turned up.

“The fight isn’t over yet and that league table I’m sure will look very different at 6pm on Friday.”

On Armando Dobra’s injury, Webb said: “When it’s a muscle injury, you’re a little bit more concerned. He can feel a bit of pain there. That will be a massive loss if he’s missing for Wimbledon, let alone for the rest of the season.

“A lot of the players have played a lot of games and we’re hoping that it doesn’t catch up with us at the wrong time.”

Fleetwood boss Pete Wild felt there was not much to choose between the two sides.

He said: “Effort, application and desire was back, which is pleasing.

“It’s moments in games – they had four moments and scored three. We’ve had two moments and not scored any.

“There’s not a lot gone in the football match. Ultimately, you look at the scoreline and you think about the game.

“We spent this week planning for a 3-5-2 and then we had injuries and illness in the camp.

“For all those things chucked into a pot, I don’t think they’ve given it a bad crack today.

“For 50 minutes, it was an away performance that you’d like. Then one bit of quality from Ryan Colclough and it’s 1-0.

“I don’t think there was too much between the two teams today. The scoreline doesn’t really reflect what went on.

“There’s no hiding from the fact that most of our experienced players are in the physio room.

“It’s always difficult because we’ve replaced them with young prospects who are making their way in the game.”
