Michael Flynn confident of play-off push after Cheltenham’s comeback victory
{by} PA

Michael Flynn believes his team can make a charge towards the League Two play-offs places after watching them come from 2-0 down to beat Barrow 3-2 at home.

Matty Taylor scored twice before fellow substitute Ashley Hay hit the winner as the Robins continued their perfect home record in 2025.

Cheltenham climbed to 13th in the table and sit eight points off seventh-placed Crewe with two games in hand.

“I think the whole league is up for grabs,” Flynn said.

“I can’t say it’s the most difficult League Two I’ve ever seen, but there are still a lot of good teams in it.

“It’s closer than normal because everyone keeps beating everyone, apart from Walsall who have been a solid, consistent machine.

“If we can improve our away form and cut out the silly mistakes, we’ll 100 per cent be in the mix.

“If we hadn’t given so many bad goals away, we’d be in the top three, never mind the play-offs.”

Veteran Taylor went on in the 51st minute, with the Robins reeling after Ben Whitfield had added to Sam Foley’s first-half goal for the visitors.

Taylor reduced the arrears after an hour and then levelled 10 minutes later to register his first brace for the club.

Hay netted in the winner in the 76th minute after a fine cross from Ethan Williams.

Barrow boss Andy Whing was frustrated with how his side threw away their dominant position.

“I am annoyed and annoyed at myself first and foremost,” Whing said.

“We were naive today, again, and that last half an hour sums us up this season away from home.

“I pulled the stats up for the lads in the last couple of days that we haven’t won away since September and we are a bit fragile in those moments because we stopped doing the basics right.

“We got into a great position going 2-0 up, but we looked a bit leggy so I am annoyed at myself in hindsight, in terms of could I have brought subs on earlier.

“But even still, we let too many crosses into the box and Matty Taylor came on and changed the game because he is an experienced finisher.

“I can’t batter the boys too much because they’ve been superb for the last two games and for 60 minutes today, but we have to be more resilient.”
