Next game is the focus for Vincent Kompany and Bayern Munich
{by} PA

Vincent Kompany insists recent results are of no concern as Bayern Munich prepare for another top-of-the-table clash at Bundesliga rivals Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bayern’s 100 per cent start to the season in all competitions was halted in last week’s home draw against Bayer Leverkusen, who had started the day in second place.

And on Wednesday night Kompany’s side slipped to their first defeat of the season as Aston Villa sealed a memorable 1-0 Champions League win at Villa Park.

Kompany – whose side sit top of the Bundesliga, one point above Frankfurt – said: “I’m only concerned about the next game, and that’s Frankfurt.

“After every game, whether you win or lose, all that counts is the next game. We can take a lot with us into the next game. That needs to be the foundation for doing well.”

Frankfurt, who stunned Bayern in a 5-1 win in the corresponding fixture last season, have won four and lost one of their opening five league games.

Kompany said: “It’s always a special game in Frankfurt. They’re a good team on the counter, with lots of young players and lots talent.

“The club and the team can still grow. But it’s also a normal game for us. We want to get our points and keep going in the Bundesliga.”

Jamal Musiala will miss out at Deutsche Bank Park after being withdrawn from Germany’s Nations League squad earlier this week due to a hip injury.

Kompany did not put a timescale on Musiala’s expected recovery and hinted Leroy Sane, yet to start for Bayern this season, is a natural replacement.

The Bayern boss added: “It’s a real shame Jamal isn’t involved, but we have 100 per cent trust in our squad. Leroy is obviously a player who can come in.

“We all know how good and important Jamal is for Bayern and Germany.

“Our priority is that he’s fit and stays fit. He’s done an excellent job, has openly communicated how he feels.

“We’ve tried to manage his workload. But it’s now the right decision for him to have a rest and get fully fit again.”

Bayern’s number two goalkeeper Sven Ulreich serves a one-game ban for verbally abusing Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes in last week’s stalemate.

Japan defender Hiroki Ito is still working his way back to fitness after breaking a bone in his foot.
