Bayern Munich are keen on bringing Bayer Leverkusen talent Florian Wirtz to the Allianz Arena next summer but the German giants will face strong competition from Man City and Real Madrid.
The 21-year-old is one of Europe’s most exciting talents and has developed rapidly ever since making his debut for the Bundesliga champions in 2020.
Last season highlighted the midfielder’s importance to Leverkusen as the youngster played a huge role in Xabi Alonso’s team winning the league and cup double in Germany. Wirtz featured in 49 matches, scoring 18 goals and assisting a further 20.
Despite a contract at the BayArena until 2027, several clubs had an eye on the German international during the summer transfer window, but the 21-year-old opted to remain with Leverkusen for at least another season.
Reports linked Man City, Real Madrid and Liverpool to Wirtz and it looks like two of these remain interested in the midfielder ahead of the 2025 windows.
Bayern Munich ready to move for Man City target Florian Wirtz in 2025
There is a possibility that Wirtz could leave Bayer Leverkusen in 2025 and knowing this, Bayern Munich have become interested in the German midfielder.
According to Maximilian Koch, the bosses at Bayern are keen to bring the 21-year-old to Munich ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. The German giants have always had the best talent from the country as part of their squad and Wirtz is no different.
The Bundesliga giants expect the youngster to cost around €100m and not the €150m that Leverkusen are demanding.
The journalist also admits that Real Madrid are also in the mix for Wirtz, which could be a problem for Bayern Munich given the La Liga club’s status in the game and the strength of their current squad.
Man City are also very likely to get involved in the race as the Bayer Leverkusen star would be the perfect replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who is expected to leave the Premier League champions upon the expiration of his contract at the end of the season.
